The Latest Update

I's been a while since you've seen a post... which I credit my work to taking up the time and trying to catch up. Last week I snapped my fingers(wasn't able to do), and the week before I was able to open a pop can. It might not seem like a big deal, but it's small steps in the right direction. The numbness has decreased quite a bit in my legs, while the hands remain the same. I'm working with the O.T. (Occupational Therapist), and the excercising techniques seem to be helping. I think the improvement is part nerve repair, part my body is adjusting/compensating(just getting used to it). Either way, this is still frustrating, and it will be a long journey. I might try to pick up my guitar this weeekend!

I am about 4.5 years into my experience with idiopathic TM. I am responding to tell you that despite what a neurologist might say, we are all different in our experience with this syndrome and I continue to experience (very slowly however) gain in mobility and balance even now. This experience has changed my life a lot but I am able to work full time and to take a "half full" perspective, rather than "half empty." Good luck to you and don't hesitate to contact me if you wish.

Hey Jeff, I just stumbled onto your blog while browsing our disease. I've had TM 5yrs now. It has left me partialy numb from the waist down on both sides,my left arm and only two fingers on my left hand. Boy did I get lucky. I just wanted to say don't let this get you down regardless of what anyone says. Ah! the power of positive thoughts. Never, never give up!!

Hi Jeff, Found you while continuing to study this disease that effects us. TM now for three years. Level is T7. Everything below my waist is out of whack. I mean everything. Started B-12 Jan. '08 can only use the nose spray form. The first time I dosed all my symptoms disappeared completely. For two days. Now I get no benefit from it. However, I'm still very certain that it is the key to unlocking the puzzle. I wish you well in your journey. From one musician to another.

Jeff,
Just ran across you blog. I too have TM, Became paralized waist down in Sept 2003. Numerous test, 5 days of intervenous predesone.
From not moving, to wheel chair, to walker, to cane.
Six months called MS, than sent to Duke for TM.
It took 2 and a half years to get my leg over my exercise bike. My feet are still numb, my left leg sometimes it belongs to my body, and my balance isn't the greatest.

I am greatful to be walking, no matter how little, and I try to make the most of every day.
Notice you haven't posted lately, hope you are ok.
Linda
